While much of institutional Christianity has tacitly supported white supremacy in America, the faith of the Black-led freedom movement offers concrete practices for an anti-racist gospel. From the brush arbors on the edges of plantations to the churches that passed down the spirituals and created gospel music, Black-led Christianity in America has formed millions in a spirituality that holds love of God and the pursuit of justice together in daily practice. Jonathan Wilson-Hartgrove has been a student of this tradition for 25 years. In this retreat, he invites Christians who want to address systemic racism in our world and in the church to be formed in the faith practices of the Black-led freedom movement.
